Jhulelal is called Ishtadeva Udero Lal (Hindu water god - Varun Dev's incarnation). He is also known as Uday Chand, Amar Laal and Laal Sain. The name 'Jhulelal' became famous because as a child (lal), the cradle (jhule) of Uderolal would swing on its own. Jhulelal was a man of miracles, through his miracles he opened the eyes of the oppressor and provided justice to Sindhis. To honor their deity, the Sindhis celebrate this day. Cheti Chand is celebrated on a day during the waxing phase of the moon (chand) of Chet month.

SINDHI
LANGUAGE

All Sindhis used different forms of the devnagari and Lunda scripts for trading before the standardization of Sindhis orthography. A modified version of the Persian alphabet known as Ab-ul-Hassan Sindhi and Gurmukhi was employed for literary and religious purposes. During British rule in the late 19th century, two additional scripts—the Khudabadi alphabet and Skhikapuri—were attempts to reform the Landa script. Following much debate—and despite the devnagari script having also been considered—an Arabic-based orthography was finally adopted as standard.
